From construction to mobile hydraulics, rods must resist scuffing, corrosion and impact without damaging seals. TripleHard® provides a uniform, hard layer with low friction that preserves surface quality and extends service intervals. It is REACH-compliant and Cr(VI)-free, and it eliminates post-heat steps that slow production.
OEMs get stable performance and risk reduction; Coaters receive ready specifications and audit-backed onboarding to move quickly into series production. For both, adopting trivalent hard chrome hydraulic cylinders is a straightforward way to meet future regulations.
TripleHard® is trivalent Cr(III) hard chrome solution delivered as a complete package – licensed process, production line and chemical service – for all your high-load components.
TripleHard® is a fully industrialized Cr(III) hard chrome process with years of field use and OEM approvals. The coating has passed endurance, wear and corrosion tests on demanding components – you are not starting a research project, but adopting a ready-made solution.
Hexavalent chromium is a substance of very high concern. Under REACH, the aim is that such substances are progressively replaced by safer alternatives when technically and economically viable. Continuing with Cr(VI) means increasing authorization costs, tightening exposure limits and, in the coming restriction, direct bans on many uses. Adopting TripleHard® removes Cr(VI) from your coating step and aligns you with legislation.
TripleHard® delivers high hardness, fast plating speed, excellent wear and corrosion resistance and outstanding acid resistance – while avoiding expensive fume scrubbing and wastewater treatment typical for Cr(VI). Combined with longer component lifetime, up to 17× service life in field cases and up to 55 % lower total coating cost, TripleHard® reduces CO₂ footprint and operating cost compared to legacy hard chrome.
The next step is a joint workshop: we review your components and supply chain, identify where TripleHard® can replace Cr(VI) and outline the line concept together with our equipment partner. Book a meeting and we will map a concrete migration plan for your plant.
In field use on heavy equipment, Cr(VI)-coated rods had to be re-plated or replaced after just a few months because of corrosion and wear, while TripleHard® rods ran for several years in the same conditions – up to 17× longer service life. Fewer rod failures mean fewer cylinder rebuilds, less unplanned downtime and a much lower risk of leaks in demanding hydraulic systems.
The cost comparison doesn't just look at €/m² of chrome – it includes re-plating frequency, downtime, scrap, waste treatment and Cr(VI) compliance work. Because TripleHard® rods last much longer and are easier to run from and EHS point of view, the total cost of coating and maintaining the rods can be cut by around 50% versus conventional hard chrome. In practice, hydraulic cylinders become both more reliable and cheaper to own over their lifetime.
The CO₂ calculation looks at the whole life cycle of the rod – production, transport, re-plating and scrap handling. When TripleHard® extends rod lifetime and drastically reduces the number of re-plating cycles, the CO₂ tied to rods and their maintenance drop by about 94% compared with the Cr(VI) baseline. For a cylinder fleet this means a very concrete reduction in the climate impact of keeping equipment running.
Replace Cr(VI) with a REACH-compliant trivalent hard chrome coating. TripleHard® helps you cut emissions, improve worker safety and stay ahead of tightening regulations.
TripleHard® lets you upgrade from Cr(VI) hard chrome to a REACH-compliant Cr(III) process with an engineered production line and full technical support. You can keep serving existing customers and win new OEM programs that require Cr(VI)-free coatings.
Decide whether to retrofit your existing hard chrome line or install a dedicated TripleHard® module. Together with our equipment partner we design the line layout, tank configuration and utilities.
Savroc provides the process recipe, operating window, control instructions and operator training. Once the line is stable, we audit the process so it can be licensed for TripleHard® production.
Increase TripleHard® volume, add more part numbers and plan the shutdown of old Cr(VI) baths and related ventilation and waste treatment.

TripleHard® gives job shops a practical path to replace Cr(VI): a familiar plating process, fully REACH-compliant chemistry and cleaner working conditions. Stay competitive as OEMs tighten their sustainability criteria.
TripleHard® is delivered as a complete package – license, line concept and chemical & process support
Savroc license the TripleHard® Cr(III) hard chrome process to your plant, including process window, control instructions and OEM-grade QA documentation. You get repeatable, audited coating process instead of a one-off chemistry trial.
We deliver a complete production line or retrofit concept: tanks, agitation, rectifiers, exhaust and handling. Depending on your parts and volumes, the line can be an automatic continuous line or an open-tank configuration. All layouts are engineered for TripleHard® from day one, so you reach stable quality and high productivity faster.
Savorc supplies the TripleHard® additives and support bath maintenance, troubleshooting and continuous improvement. You get regular analysis, recommendations and remote/on-site support to keep the line in its sweet spot.

No new field trials needed – here are answers to the most common questions.
A: Hexavalent chromium is classified as carcinogenic, mutagenic and toxic substance, and EU regulation is tightening – Cr(VI) compounds are moving from authorization to direct restrictions, which will heavily limit their use and increase compliance costs. Staying with Cr(VI) increases regulatory and business risk. TripleHard® uses safer Cr(III) chemistry, is REACH-compliant and eliminates Cr(VI) fumes and complex waste, while delivering higher hardness, more uniform thickness and durable wear and corrosion performance on hydraulic rods. In practice you reduce risk and environmental burden and get a better-performing coating.
A: In most standard hydraulic rod applications, the field testing has already been done. You can build on existing references and lab data, and run only limited verification on your own components and duty cycles if needed.
A: Yes. TripleHard® uses trivalent chromium (Cr(III)) chemistry and contains no hexavalent chromium. It supports REACH compliance and helps you remove Cr(VI) from your products and supply chain.
A: No. TripleHard is designed to meet performance and reliability requirements without post-bake, which shortens lead time, simplifies the process and reduces energy use compared to conventional hard chrome.
A: Yes. TripleHard is engineered for seal-friendly surfaces and can be finished to the same Ra/Rz targets as hard chrome. We provide recommended grinding and polishing guidelines to match your current seal system.
A: In most cases, no design changes are needed. TripleHard is a plated coating with similar thickness and dimensional impact as hard chrome, so existing rod designs and fits can usually be kept as they are.
A: We supply ready drawing clauses and specification text for hydraulic rods, including coating type, thickness and range and surface finish. You can add these directly to your internal standard and customer documentation.
